Google Play Transparency
Data Safety Summary
Beyond Pixels is built to serve users, not data brokers. Ordinary gallery browsing is completely local to your device. We do not sell your personal data, do not display advertising, and only transmit selected photos when you tap to generate an AI description.
1. Photos & Media Handling
The app requests media storage permissions strictly to operate as your on-device gallery:
- Browsing & Albums: Photos, folders, and metadata are indexed locally on your device for fast, accessible display.
- Dual-Mode AI Processing: When you choose to describe an image:
- API Key Mode: The photo is sent directly from your device to Google Gemini over encrypted HTTPS.
- Credits Mode: The photo is sent over HTTPS to our Cloud Functions backend, where Gemini processes it in-memory. The photo is not permanently stored or used to train models.
- Zero Background Scanning: Beyond Pixels never scans, indexes, or transmits your photos silently in the background.
2. Financial Information & Purchases
Beyond Pixels offers optional credit packs to power AI descriptions in Credits Mode:
- Credit Packs:
credits_49(250 credits),credits_99(500 credits),credits_149(750 credits), andcredits_199(1000 credits). - Google Play Billing: All financial transactions are handled exclusively by Google Play. Beyond Pixels never accesses or stores credit card numbers, bank accounts, or financial credentials.
- Purchase Verification: Our backend verifies Google Play purchase tokens to credit your account ledger securely.
3. Personal Information & Authentication
When you sign in with Google to synchronize credits across sessions:
- Account Identifiers: Google User ID (UID), email address, and display name are collected to maintain your credit balance and provide user support.
- Data Selling & Ads: We never sell user data and never share contact information with third-party advertisers.
4. Device Identifiers & Notifications
- Push Notification Tokens: If enabled, Expo/FCM device tokens are used to send operational alerts (e.g., credit replenishment confirmations or important app updates). Tokens can be revoked anytime in your device settings.
- Single-Device Session Tokens: An installation identifier is kept to prevent concurrent account abuse and protect user credit balances.
5. Security Practices & Encryption
- Data in Transit: All communications between the app, backend servers, and Google Gemini use HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- Data Deletion Mechanism: Users can request immediate account and data deletion via our web portal at Account & Data Deletion, or wipe local data directly in app settings.
- Automatic 90-Day Policy: Inactive accounts and associated identifiers are automatically deleted after 90 days of non-use.
